Kieran
I've been involved with music since I was 8 years old when I decided to take up the guitar after discovering my guitar heroes in Carlos Santana and Tommy Emmanuel. I started Essendon Guitar in 2014, and have been teaching guitar now for 11 years. I also currently manage and play in the cover band 'The Knots', performing Pop, Rock, Acoustic, Funk and Soul covers regularly across Melbourne and Central Victoria.
I completed my Certificate IV in music in 2009, and have completed AMEB Advancing Step Three in Contemporary Popular Music in Guitar with Honours. For me there's nothing much better than seeing a student find that band or song they love, and helping them to channel that inspiration into their own guitar playing!
Darcy
Darcy first started playing guitar when he was 19 years old, with an interest in learning how to play jazz and improvised music. A few years later he auditioned and was accepted for a Bachelor of Music with a major in guitar that he’s currently completing, and began teaching with Essendon Guitar in mid 2018. Throughout his time at uni he’s been exposed to performing pop tunes, in big band ensembles and everything in between, including tutoring his fellow students in improvisation and chord theory, as well as private teaching from home.
In between teaching and going to school Darcy is currently writing arrangements for quintets with the goal of forming an ongoing band project.
